The 2015 Burning River Fest will take place on August 28 & 29 from 6-11 pm at the historic Coast Guard Station at Whiskey Island. See 2014 photos here.
Since 2001, folks from all over the Great Lakes region have come together to remember the 1969 burning of the Cuyahoga River and celebrate the renewed sense of eco-consciousness the infamous fire sparked. In 2015, Burning River Fest invites guests to discover and celebrate Cleveland’s historic Coast Guard Station with live music, fresh food from local farms and eateries, chef demos, and plenty of GLBC beer, including Burning River Pale Ale, Oktoberfest, and a special, yet to be determined beer perfect for summer and the Burning River Fest. Festival goers will be able to dance, eat, drink and socialize while celebrating one of Cleveland’s most unique monuments.
Ticket sales will be announced in the coming weeks and will be available for purchase on the Burning River Foundation website and at the festival each day. A discounted admission price and other special perks will be available when purchasing pre-sale tickets. Details regarding pre-sale will be announced soon.
Highlights from Burning River Fest:
- Over 18 bands and musicians on two stages bringing funk, blues, rock, and more to the shore.
- Fresh, all-natural local food and chef demonstrations, plus handcrafted beer by Great Lakes Brewing Company.
- The most spectacular night time views of Cleveland from a wonderful greenspace right in the heart of Cleveland’s industry.
- A ceremonial lighting of floating pyres intended to commemorate the efforts to clean up our waterways since the burning of the Cuyahoga.
Proceeds benefit the Burning River Foundation, a local non-profit organization that provides resources for the sustainable future of our waterways, which has donated almost $400,000 to date.
